Late December Update for Scout Backers

We'd hoped to send out the decks from the first press run this week, but they're still in production. 

It's now looking like we'll be shipping them out to Scout backers in January. We'll be verifying addresses shortly before we send them.

We're eager to see these decks and get your feedback! 

With our new two-part box, we're aiming for something that's easy to open but stays shut when it's closed. In testing, we've found it's not just about the fit between the lid and the base. The weight of the deck and the finish on the case wrapper also affect how it feels. It may take some tweaking to get it just right — but that's why we're printing these test decks.

Test decks are being printed!

After several rounds of edits and design tweaks, everything is now in the hands of our manufacturing partner in Florida.

They'll be printing our first 100 test decks so we can check fit and finish. These are the decks that will go out to our Scout (first press run) backers. We're aiming to have them out the door by the end of the year.

Assuming the test decks turn out well, we should be on track to send decks to all backers by March 2023. We plan on shipping standard and Dark Mode decks at the same time.

Of course, in order to send you your deck, we need to know where you live! So be sure to fill out your backer survey if you haven't.*

International Rescue backers, thank you for filling out the special survey link we sent you. We've gotten 259 responses, and are currently discussing best ways to offer Writer Emergency Pack internationally.

While we're waiting for the test decks to come back from the printer, I wanted to share this video showing artist J. Longo working on the illustrations for three of our cards: Stranger, Boomerang and Tiny Door. It's fascinating to see choices being made in real time.

If you backed at the $99 “Scout (The First Press Run)” tier, thanks! We’re going to be sending you a copy of both the first demo deck and a second deck, which can be either Standard or Dark Mode. It’s all set up in BackerKit. Just fill it out as normal.

INTERNATIONAL BACKERS

Reminder that if you backed at the $1 “International Rescue” tier, you won’t get a BackerKit email. Instead, please complete this tiny survey so we can figure out how to best produce and ship decks to you.

What Happens Next?

Over the next few days, keep an eye out for:

• An email from BackerKit to confirm your address, choose your decks, adjust your pledge, and finalize shipping information. If you don't receive an email from BackerKit by November 15, 2022, please contact us at [email protected].
• For our International Rescue backers, we'll be asking where you're located so we can figure out production and shipping for the international version of the deck.
• The first run decks will ship before everything else, so if you are pledging at the Scout tier, please complete your BackerKit information ASAP.
• We will continue to send updates through Kickstarter when we have updates on production, shipping, and how these decks are being used in classrooms.
